Lower your risk
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily; reapply every 2 hours outdoors
- Seek shade between 10am and 4pm and wear hats and UV-protective clothing
- Never use tanning beds
- Be extra careful if you have fair skin, many moles, or a family history
Catch it early
- Check your skin monthly for new or changing spots (the ABCDEs: Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, Evolving)
- Have a professional skin exam regularly — more often if you're high-risk
- Use SkinIO photography and skin mapping to track lesions over time
- See a clinician promptly for any sore that won't heal
If something is found
Most skin cancers caught early are highly curable — and many can be treated scar-free with Image-Guided Superficial Radiation Therapy (IG-SRT), no surgery required.
